Doha, Qatar: Qatar is set to
be represented by a delegation of 14 male and female athletes at the
forthcoming 33rd edition of the Summer Olympic Games, slated to occur in Paris,
France, from July 26 to August 11. The athletes selected to represent Qatar
hail from five national federations, namely athletics, swimming, shooting,
beach volleyball, and weightlifting.
During a recent
press briefing held by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), the progress of Team
Qatar was unveiled. Key figures present at the briefing included Mohamed Issa
al-Fadala, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the QOC; Mohamed Saeed
al-Misnad, the Chef De Mission leading the Qatar delegation at the Olympics;
and Abdulhadi al-Sahli, serving as the Press Attaché for the Qatar delegation.
Al-Misnad
elaborated on the roster of participants, which features prominent athletes
such as Mutaz Essa Barshim, Abdelrahman Samba, Aboubaker Abdulla, Bassem
Hameeda, Ismail Dawoud, Ammar Ismail, Saif Mohamed, and Shahad Mohamed in
athletics. The list also includes Saeed Abu Sharb and Rashid Saleh al-Adba in
shooting, Fares Ibrahim Hassouna in weightlifting, Cherif Younesse and Ahmed
Tijan in beach volleyball, and Abdulaziz al-Obaidli in swimming.
