In a significant development, Vinesh Phogat's appeal against her disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 final was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. 

The Indian wrestler's hopes for a shared silver medal were dashed as the decision was announced today. 

Vinesh Phogat was disqualified for exceeding the weight limit during the weigh-in process before her gold-medal bout against Sarah Ann Hildebrandt of the USA in women's 50kg wrestling.

"The operative part of the August 14 decision, which dismisses Vinesh's application to be awarded a shared silver medal in women's 50 kg category at the Paris Olympic Games has significant implications for her in particular and the sporting community at large," stated IOA.
