UAE weather updates: Expert explains heavy rains and thunderstorms this week

UAE: As the UAE prepares for upcoming adverse weather conditions starting Wednesday, an expert has indicated that the situation expected is not likely to mirror the rainfall experienced on April 16.

Dr. Ahmed Habib, a weather specialist at the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall in scattered areas in the days ahead. Lightning, thunder, and possible hail are also anticipated.

"Hail was observed in the Al Shoaib area north of Al Ain on Sunday, and there's a likelihood of hail in eastern regions, extending into some internal and western areas," Dr. Habib explained.

With residents bracing for unsettled weather and rainfall on May 2, Dr. Habib emphasized that May 2-3 is expected to be the peak of the situation, clarifying that it will differ significantly from previous conditions.

"The UAE will witness cloud formation in the south of Abu Dhabi, gradually moving towards internal areas like Al Ain. However, May 3 will mark the peak," he stated.
