Saudi Arabia is planning to improve access to the historic Cave of Hira by installing a new cable car system that is expected to be operational by 2025.
The Cave of Hira, situated on Makkah's Jabal Al Noor, holds great significance as the place where Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) received the initial revelation of the Holy Quran.
The new cable car project aims to make the 634-meter-high cave more accessible, located approximately four kilometers from the Grand Mosque, to serve pilgrims and tourists. Previously, reaching the cave required a challenging climb, but recent improvements such as a paved road have made access easier.
As part of the initiative, a lifelike replica of the cave will be created to offer visitors a detailed experience until the cable car is in operation. This development is expected to significantly improve access to the Hira Cave, providing a more convenient and immersive journey for pilgrims and visitors.
