Kuwait: At least 41 people were killed and many injured in a fire accident that happened in a six-story building in Mangaf block, located in Kuwait's Ahmadi Governorate.

Among the casualties were ten Indian nationals, including five individuals from Kerala.

"The building in which the fire occurred was used to house workers, and there was a large number of workers there. Dozens were rescued, but unfortunately there were many deaths as a result of inhaling smoke from the fire," a senior police commander told state TV.

As per reports, the fire initiated in a kitchen of the six-storey building early morning on Wednesday, swiftly engulfing all the rooms in the apartment.

The incident was reported to authorities at 6 am local time (0300 GMT), said Major General Eid Rashed Hamad.

Some residents, upon detecting the fire, attempted to escape by jumping from the building, resulting in further fatalities. Others tragically died due to severe burns and smoke inhalation.

Numerous injured individuals have been hospitalized in Adan, Jaber, and Mubarak hospitals, as per state media reports.
