Qatar: The Qatar Calendar House has announced the commencement of the peak
summer season, known as 'Mrbaanya,' starting tomorrow, June 7, 2024, and
lasting for 39 days. This period heralds the true onset of summer, marked by a
notable rise in temperatures. During 'Mrbaanya,' the sun reaches its highest
elevation in the sky for the year, signaling the beginning of intense summer
conditions and including the year's longest day. This season is also
distinguished by the visibility of seasonal stars such as Al-Thurayya,
Al-Dabaran, and Al-Haq’a.
Meanwhile,
the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has predicted hot to very hot weather
for this weekend, from June 6 to 8. Thursday's temperatures are forecasted to
peak at 42°C, with lows of 32°C. Friday is expected to see a slight decrease,
with highs of 41°C and lows of 30°C. Saturday is anticipated to be the hottest
day, with temperatures potentially reaching 43°C and lows around 30°C. The
Department has also warned of initially poor horizontal visibility offshore.
Residents and visitors are urged to prepare for the extreme heat and take
necessary precautions when outdoors.
