Eleven individuals have tragically lost their lives, with over 30 individuals still missing following the collapse of a bridge in northern China during heavy rainfall, as reported by state broadcaster CCTV on Saturday.
The bridge, located over a river in Shaanxi province's Shangluo, gave way around 8:40 pm on Friday (1240 GMT) "due to a sudden downpour and flash floods," as indicated by the provincial public relations department through the official news agency Xinhua.
According to CCTV, "nearly 20 vehicles and over 30
individuals" are yet to be found after the roadway bridge crumbled into
the river below. The broadcaster noted that all 11 confirmed fatalities were
discovered in five vehicles that had been recovered from the water.
