Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza, following the killing of a third Canadian in Lebanon due to an Israeli airstrike.
Speaking to Radio Canada International, Trudeau emphasized the urgent need to end the violence, advocating for a stop to hostilities, increased humanitarian aid, the release of hostages, and a proper route towards a two-state solution.
Since 2023, Lebanon has faced intensified Israeli attacks, including air and artillery strikes that have extended to the capital, Beirut. This escalation has resulted in thousands of casualties among the Lebanese population, with over a million people displaced from their homes. The ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has lasted over a year, further complicates the humanitarian crisis in the region.
