A baby boy was successfully saved from his dead mother's womb at a Gaza hospital following her fatal injuries from an Israeli strike, as reported on Saturday.

Nine months pregnant Ola Adnan Harb al-Kurd narrowly survived a harrowing night of missile strikes, which rescue services across the Hamas-run territory reported resulted in the deaths of over 24 individuals.

Upon arrival at Al-Awda Hospital, Kurd's condition was described as critical by surgeon Akram Hussein, who stated that she was "almost dead" at the time of her arrival.

The medical team's efforts to save the mother unfortunately were not successful, but they were able to conduct an ultrasound that revealed the presence of heartbeats of the baby.

The medical team promptly performed an emergency cesarean section "and delivered the fetus," as explained by the surgeon to AFP.

The newborn was initially in critical condition, but after receiving oxygen and medical attention was stabilised, said the head of the hospital's obstetrics and gynaecology department, Raed al-Saudi.
