Mexico's Pachuca emerged victorious against Egypt's Al Ahly, winning 6-5 in a penalty shootout to secure the FIFA Challenger Cup at 974 Stadium. The match, held on Saturday, saw both teams locked in a tense battle, unable to find the net during regulation and extra time.
The shootout took a dramatic turn when Khaled Abdelfattah missed the crucial penalty, hitting the bar, which allowed Pachuca to stage a remarkable comeback after initially trailing by two goals in the shootout. Under the guidance of coach Guillermo Almada, Pachuca had previously achieved a convincing 3-0 victory over Brazil's Botafogo in the Derby of the Americas earlier in the week.
With this victory, Pachuca clinches the spot in the upcoming FIFA Intercontinental Cup showdown against Real Madrid, set to take place at the Lusail Stadium on Wednesday.
