The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed that it has been deliberately targeted five times by Israeli forces.
In a concerning revelation, the peacekeeping mission noted the discovery of potential traces of white phosphorus near one of its bases, dating back several months.
A spokesperson for UNIFIL stated that despite these aggressive actions, the 10,000-strong mission will continue its operations in Lebanon.
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of de-escalating tensions, while asserting that UNIFIL troops retain the right to use self-defense against attacks. They also highlighted that the morale among peacekeepers remains high as they remain committed to their mission in the region.
