Strong wind, cold night and chance of scattered rain expected in Qatar today

Doha, Qatar: According to the weather report by the Department of Meteorology, weather inshore will be partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with a chance of scattered rain, potentially thundery in some areas, until 6 PM today. Relatively cold temperatures by nightfall, along with warnings of strong winds and thundery rain at places also expected.


Offshore weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of scattered rain, possibly thundery at times. The report also warns of strong winds, high seas, and expected thundery rain.


Inshore, winds are expected to be northwesterly at speeds ranging from 12 to 22 knots, with gusts reaching up to 32 knots at times. Offshore conditions will be similar, with winds varying from 5 to 25 knots, potentially reaching 34 knots.


The sea state is forecasted to be rough, with inshore waves measuring between 3 to 5 feet and offshore waves ranging from 4 to 8 feet, rising to as much as 12 feet during peak conditions. Visibility inshore may decrease to 3 kilometres or less during periods of thundery rain, while offshore visibility is expected to be between 5 to 9 kilometres, also reducing significantly during thunderstorms.
