Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced the closure of the laser and hydrafacial units in a private healthcare centre. This decision comes after an inspection revealed that nursing staff in these units were operating beyond their authorized professional licences.
According to the Ministry, specialists from the Department of Healthcare Professions found that nurses were conducting laser treatments on patients without the necessary medical consultations or supervision by a qualified doctor. Furthermore, hydrafacial treatments and skin cleansing procedures were being administered by practitioners lacking the required professional licences.
The Ministry of Public Health emphasized that these practices constitute violations of Law No. (11) of 1982, which regulates medical treatment institutions, as well as Law No. (8) of 1991 regarding the practice of allied health professions, and its amendments under Law No. (14) of 1994. As a result, legal and administrative actions are being initiated against both the healthcare centre and the practitioners involved in these infractions.
