NHRC unveils 2024-2030 Strategic Plan with wide array of programmes to safeguard people’s rights

Doha, Qatar: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) launched its 2024-2030 Strategic Plan yesterday, introducing a diverse array of programs aimed at safeguarding the rights of individuals across Qatar. 


The unveiling took place during a ceremony marking Qatar Human Rights Day, under the theme "Human Rights... A Sustainable Force for a Better Future."


Key government figures, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, and several other ministers, were in attendance to support this significant initiative.


During the event, NHRC Chairperson HE Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah emphasized that the Strategic Plan encompasses a variety of legal, advisory, cultural, social, and supervisory programs. These efforts are designed to protect the rights of priority groups and impacted individuals, while also fostering partnerships with civil society organizations.


The plan aims to enhance both institutional and individual performance, supported by clear performance indicators. It positions the NHRC as a proactive entity in proposing, developing, monitoring, and evaluating human rights efforts, ensuring alignment with ongoing changes and advancements in human rights at local, regional, and international levels.
