Doha, Qatar: The 2nd International Open Badminton Tournament, organized by Expats Sportev, recently concluded, drawing hundreds of badminton enthusiasts from various nationalities and top academies across Qatar. The four-day event took place at Athlon Sports in Beta Cambridge School, in partnership with the Padukone School of Badminton and the Qatar Badminton Apex Body. Competitions were held across 22 categories, offering singles and doubles matches for players of different grades and ages, from children to adults.
In the children’s categories, participants showcased impressive talent, with winners receiving medals, certificates, cash prizes, and gift vouchers. The event highlighted the growing enthusiasm for badminton in Qatar’s expatriate community, celebrating both seasoned players and rising stars in the sport.
The prize distribution ceremony saw the presence of notable figures, including Indian Sports Center General Secretary Nihad Ali, ICBF Secretary Mohammad Kunhi, and Iqra Mazahir, Marketing Manager of Kim’s Health, the main sponsor of the tournament. Also in attendance were Al Dana Switchgear Manager Manoj, Petrofac Manager Rajkumar, and Momentum Media Executive Director Saifuddin CK. Prizes were distributed by Expats Sportev officials, including President Abdul Ghafoor AR, General Secretary Maqbool Ahmed, and Tournament General Convener Aseem MT, alongside committee members and event sponsors.
In addition, Expatriate Welfare Vice President Sadiq Ali, Safir Rahman, and Expats Sportev Ex-General Secretary Thaseen Amin recognized the tournament’s umpires and members of the ISC Volunteer Wing for their dedication and support. The event served as a celebration of sporting spirit, showcasing camaraderie and cultural unity among Qatar’s vibrant expatriate community.
