Doha,
Qatar: Qatar Tourism has launched its 2024/2025 cruise season, marking a
record-breaking year with 95 cruise calls expected between November 2024 and
April 2025. The season was kicked off with the maiden arrival of Resorts World
One, which will make 23 visits to Doha, bringing an estimated 72,000 visitors.
Other notable ships, including Mein Schiff 4, MSC Euribia, AIDAprima, Costa
Smeralda, Norwegian Sky, and Celestyal Journey, are scheduled to dock,
cementing Qatar’s growing reputation as a premier cruise destination.
The
new cruise season is projected to welcome over 430,000 passengers, reflecting a
significant rise compared to the previous season's 347,000 visitors across 73
ships. Chairman of Qatar Tourism H E Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji highlighted the
season’s importance in advancing the National Tourism Strategy 2030, with a 30%
increase in cruise calls and a 24.5% rise in visitors expected. The growth is
attributed to new partnerships and the increasing popularity of cruise vacations
in the Gulf region, aligning with Qatar’s strategy to boost its tourism sector
and global visibility.
Capt. Abdullah Mohammed Al Khanji, CEO of Mwani Qatar, praised the collaborative efforts behind the sector's growth and confirmed that Doha Port is fully prepared to accommodate this year’s cruise influx. With 95 scheduled cruises, the port is set to offer a memorable experience to visitors, showcasing Qatar as a top choice for international cruise operators. The season underscores Qatar’s commitment to enhancing its marine tourism sector and positioning itself as a central player in the global travel industry.
