Narendra Modi sworn in for historic third term as India's Prime Minister

New Delhi, 8 June: Narendra Modi took the oath of office for an unprecedented third term as India's Prime Minister at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The event, officiated by Indian President Droupadi Murmu, was attended by a diverse group of dignitaries, including leaders from seven regional nations, Bollywood personalities, and prominent industrialists.

Narendra Modi becomes the first Indian leader since the founding Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to secure a third consecutive term.

Throughout the last decade, Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has governed India as a part of the National Democratic Alliance.

Despite the coalition's victory in the recent elections, the BJP encountered a significant shift as it lost its outright majority for the first time since 2014, necessitating collaboration with allied parties to establish a government.

Following days of uncertainty regarding the coalition's support for the BJP, alliance leaders unanimously endorsed Modi on Friday, reaffirming him as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance and their candidate for prime minister.
