Nepal bus accident: 27 confirmed dead, several injured

27 Indians were confirmed dead and many were injured in devastating incidents that occurred in Nepal as a passenger bus, registered in India, veered off the road and plunged into the Marsyangdi River in the Tanahun district. 


With approximately 40 passengers on board, the bus was en route to Kathmandu when the accident took place just 110 kilometres away from the capital.


According to Tanahun district official Janardan Gautam, out of the 43 individuals on board, 27 lost their lives in the tragic accident. 


Rescue teams faced challenging conditions in the turbulent river as they worked tirelessly to retrieve passengers from the water. Sixteen injured individuals were airlifted to Kathmandu for urgent medical treatment via military helicopter.


Authorities confirmed that all passengers aboard the bus were Indian nationals who had spent the previous night in Pokhara before embarking on their journey to Kathmandu.
