Doha, Qatar: The Indian Sports Centre (ISC) has officially announced the launch of the ISC Winter Khel Mahotsav 2024, a highly anticipated sports festival set to commence in September. This four-month celebration will encompass ten different sports, featuring teams from Qatar and international competitors.
The festival will kick off with the U17 Football Tournament on Friday, September 20, at GEMS Academy in Meshaf, where 16 teams will compete in the inaugural season. The spotlight will then shift to Ladies Box Cricket, scheduled for late September.
On October 8, the much-anticipated Season 2 of the ISC India Open Cup Badminton Tournament will begin, followed by the introduction of E-Games later in the month. The sports calendar will also include Season 2 of the Basketball Championship, a Kabaddi Tournament, and Masters Athletics. December will see the launch of Season 3 of Throw Ball for Ladies, culminating in a Swimming Championship that concludes the 10-game series.
In addition to the sports events, ISC has launched a Volunteers Wing and Technical Support Team, aimed at enhancing the organization and execution of these tournaments. The initiative was unveiled by Mr. Sachin Dinkar Shankpal, First Secretary from the Indian Embassy, during a press conference held at ICC, Ashoka Hall. The new logo for ISC Volunteers was introduced, along with the unveiling of volunteer T-shirts, recognizing the essential role volunteers play in the success of ISC events.
ISC, the apex body promoting sports within the Indian community in Qatar, has made all relevant information about the games and participation criteria available through its social media channels. Additionally, an exhibition match featuring Ambassador XI versus Community XI is planned for November, along with an exhibition match between IMF XI and ISC XI, showcasing athleticism and teamwork.
The press conference was attended by key ISC figures, including President Mr. EP Abdul Rahiman, Advisory Committee Member and Winter Khel Mahotsav ’24 Organizing Committee Chairman Mr. Mibu Jose, General Secretary Mr. Nihad Ali, Secretary Mr. Pradeep Pillai, and MC Member Mrs. Parvinder Burji.
With a diverse lineup of activities, the ISC Winter Khel Mahotsav 2024 promises to foster community spirit and celebrate sportsmanship among enthusiasts in Qatar.
