Doha, Qatar: As part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations and in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), Qatar, organized a specialized “SHE Medical Camp” exclusively for women at Reyada Medical Centre. The camp aimed to enhance awareness of breast cancer while promoting overall women’s health and well-being.
The
event saw overwhelming participation, with around 320 women registering for the
camp. Among them were 100 domestic workers who were given access to free medical
check-ups, a crucial service that would otherwise be difficult for them to
obtain. The camp provided consultations with doctors and specialists in various
fields, including General Medicine, Gynecology, ENT, Dental Care, Breast
Screening, and Physiotherapy. In addition to these consultations, a range of
laboratory tests were offered, including Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood
Sugar, and Vision check-ups. Essential medicines were also distributed to those
in need, ensuring comprehensive care for all attendees.
The
event was graced by Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy
of India, Qatar, who served as the Chief Guest. In his speech, Mr. Kumar lauded
the efforts of ICBF and Reyada Medical Centre in organizing the camp and
highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting women’s health and
awareness of breast cancer.

President Shanavas Bava, in his presidential address, emphasized the
significance of holding medical camps dedicated to women's health. Indian
Sports Centre President E P Abdurahiman also addressed the gathering, stressing
the importance of prioritizing women’s health in the community. The Managing
Director of Reyada Medical Centre, Jamsheer Hamza, expressed his gratitude for
the opportunity to collaborate with ICBF on this noble initiative.
ICBF
Secretary and event coordinator, T K Muhammad Kunhi, played a pivotal role in
coordinating the event, while the official program commenced with a welcome
speech by ICBF Managing Committee Member, Neelambari Sushant. Managing
Committee Member Zareena Ahad proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the
contributions of all involved in making the camp a success.
The
camp was meticulously organized with the support of ICBF Vice President Deepak
Shetty, General Secretary Varkey Boban, and Managing Committee Members Shankar
Goud and Abdul Raoof Kondotty. The dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at
Reyada Medical Centre, alongside community volunteers, were instrumental in
ensuring the smooth execution of the camp.
A
special session on breast cancer awareness was conducted by Gynecologist Dr.
Vijaylakshmi, further underscoring the camp’s focus on raising awareness and
promoting women's health. The camp served as a testament to ICBF’s commitment
to the well-being of the Indian community in Qatar, especially the women who
contribute significantly to the society.
