Hezbollah vows retaliation as 9 dead and 3000 wounded in pagers explosion in Lebanon

Hezbollah has declared its intention to respond to Israel following the simultaneous explosions of pagers used by its members across Lebanon. The explosions resulted in the death of at least nine individuals and caused almost 3,000 injuries.

These events occurred shortly after Israel announced an expansion of the objectives of the conflict, initially sparked by the Hamas attacks on October 7, to include its confrontation with Hezbollah along the border with Lebanon.

Lebanon's Health Minister, Firass Abiad, confirmed that a 10-year-old girl was among those killed in the explosions. He reported that approximately 2,750 individuals were injured, with over 200 of them in critical condition, primarily sustaining injuries to the face, hands, and stomach.

The apparent sabotage attack followed a series of targeted assassinations by Israel against senior Hezbollah leaders and coincided with efforts by US officials to de-escalate tensions between the two sides. There are ongoing concerns that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might order a ground invasion of Lebanon.
