Spanish authorities are on high alert as multiple individuals have been reported missing following devastating flash floods that ravaged village streets on Tuesday.

The torrential downpours caused by severe weather conditions swept away vehicles and severely disrupted rail services across extensive areas of eastern and southern Spain.

The destructive torrents have resulted in widespread damage, extending from Malaga in the south to Valencia in the east.

Videos shared by locals and broadcast by Spain's national channel RTVE depict harrowing scenes of swift, murky waters lifting cars off the ground and inundating homes to several feet deep in muddy water.
