Iran’s Aseman Airlines conducted a rare women-only flight on Sunday, marking the first time such a flight has landed in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

The flight, known as "Iran Banoo" (Iran Lady), was piloted by Shahrzad Shams, one of the first women pilots in the country, and carried 110 female passengers.

According to the official IRNA news agency, this milestone flight touched down at Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad, Iran's second-largest city. While the departure point was not disclosed, the significance of the event is clear, as it highlights the increasing presence of women in a field traditionally dominated by men.

In recent years, Iran has seen a slow but steady rise in the number of female pilots. Notably, in October 2019, Neshat Jahandari and copilot Forouz Firouzi made history as the first women to operate a passenger flight in the Islamic Republic.
