A plane carrying over 60 passengers crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, with reports indicating that more than 20 individuals survived while dozens are feared dead. The Azerbaijan Airlines flight, which was en route from Baku to Grozny in Russia's Chechnya, was rerouted to Aktau due to heavy fog at its original destination.

Kazakh Emergencies Ministry officials confirmed that at least 25 passengers managed to escape the wreckage. However, the exact number of fatalities remains uncertain, as authorities await further confirmation. Initial reports suggest that as many as 42 people may have perished in the crash, according to an Associated Press report. Rescue operations are ongoing as the investigation into the cause of the accident begins.
