Doha, Qatar: Qatar has announced plans to provide technical assistance and support to the new Syrian administration aimed at making Damascus International Airport operational once again. This statement was made by Dr. Majed bin Mohammad Al Ansari during a weekly media briefing held yesterday.

In discussions between Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi and the leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmed Al Sharaa, the focus was on addressing the technical challenges facing the currently dysfunctional airport.

Dr. Al Ansari emphasized the importance of the recent visit by the Minister of State, which underscored the close relations between Qatar and Syria, as well as Qatar's ongoing support for the war-torn nation. He noted that the discussions included an assessment of the necessary technical requirements to facilitate the airport's operations.

Highlighting a significant milestone, Dr. Al Ansari mentioned the symbolic landing of a Qatar Airways plane at Damascus International Airport, which represents Qatar's commitment to ensuring the airport's recommissioning. He assured that flights would resume as soon as the technical requirements were adequately met.
