Iran's Guardian Council announces first vice president to be interim president

The spokesman for the Guardian Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hadi Tahan Nazif, has declared that as per the Constitution, the vice president will take over the role of interim president upon approval from the Supreme Leader.

In an interview on Monday, Tahan Nazif outlined that, upon the Supreme Leader's endorsement, a council comprising the Iranian judiciary chief, parliament speaker, and vice president will initiate preparations for conducting elections within a span of 50 days.

"No disruption to the operations of the country," he said.
