642 million people voted in election, says Chief Election Commission

New Delhi: A noteworthy 642 million Indian citizens participated in the recently concluded six-week-long polls, as disclosed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar during a press briefing on Monday. The prevailing expectation is for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to secure a third term in office.

Rajiv Kumar said, "We have created a world record of 642 million Indian voters, it is a historic moment for all of us."

"It shows the incredible power of voters of India.” he added.

As per the commission's data indicating an electorate of 968 million, there was a voter turnout of 66.3%, demonstrating a slight decrease compared to the previous general election in 2019.
