Doha, Qatar: The eagerly anticipated 2nd International Open Badminton Tournament, organized by Expats Sportev, will kick off on November 6 at Beta Cambridge School. The event is coordinated by Athlen Sports in partnership with the Padukone School of Badminton and the Qatar Badminton Apex Body, with Kim’s Health as the primary sponsor.
The tournament's official poster was launched recently by Kim's Health Marketing Manager, Iqra Mazahir, alongside Radio Malayalam CEO Anwar Hussain. Expats Sportev President Abdul Ghafoor AR presided over the event, with Tournament General Convenor Azim M.T. and organizing committee members including Muneesh AC, Saif Valanchery, Muhsin Omassery, Rahim Vengeri, Rahmatullah Kondotti, Rabih Zaman, Expats Sports General Secretary Maqbool Ahmed, and RJ Jibin in attendance.
The tournament will feature various age categories for young badminton enthusiasts, with singles competitions for under-9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 age groups. The event also welcomes participants over 35 in the men’s open category for both singles and doubles, and over 45 for doubles in different graded categories by the Badminton Association. This multi-age tournament aims to encourage wide participation across all skill levels, fostering a competitive yet inclusive atmosphere for players.
Winners in each category will be honored with medals, certificates, trophies, and gift vouchers, especially recognizing achievements in the children’s category to motivate young players. The tournament is set to attract a strong contingent of local and international participants, showcasing Qatar’s growing enthusiasm for badminton as a sport and a community event.
