Atishi to become Delhi Chief Minister as Arvind Kejriwal resigns

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced his resignation after a meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. During a gathering of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators held today, Kejriwal put forth the name of Atishi, who was unanimously elected as the new leader of the legislature party, positioning her to take over as the next Chief Minister of Delhi.

Atishi, currently serving as an MLA from Kalkaji, is an esteemed alumnus of Oxford University and has been instrumental in holding key portfolios within the Delhi government, including Education and Public Works. She is lauded for her vital contributions to the transformation of Delhi's education system and has been a prominent face representing the government at major events, reflecting her rising stature within the party.

Her emergence as a leader comes in the wake of her colleague Manish Sisodia's arrest related to a corruption investigation, thrusting her into the spotlight during a challenging period for the AAP. With her new role, Atishi is expected to uphold and advance the party's governance agenda, steering the capital through its next chapter of development.
