Seven members of the same family lost their lives in a fire that erupted in their home just days before a wedding in eastern Saudi Arabia.
The fire, which began when a phone charger ignited a sofa, quickly spread to the ceiling decorations of the two-storey residence in Al-Ahsa on Monday.
Among the victims were six siblings and their nephew, including a woman who was preparing for her wedding set to take place in just 72 hours.
According to the victims' uncle, the family was caught off guard by the speed with which the flames engulfed their home.
Fortunately, the mother of the family, who was hospitalized, has since been discharged and is reported to be in good health.
While phone chargers are known to pose firei risks, such tragedies are considered rare and generally stem from specific issues. Experts note that faulty or damaged chargers, overheating, improper usage, or continuous charging can lead to these dangerous incidents.
