Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, successfully chaired the 10th meeting of the Ministers of Islamic Affairs and Endowments from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in Doha yesterday.
The session was led by Minister H.E. Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim, alongside esteemed ministers from GCC nations. Qatar was represented by Undersecretary H.E. Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, with the presence of GCC Secretary General H.E. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi.
Discussions at the meeting included significant initiatives such as declaring a World Day for Endowments and establishing a Gulf scientific observatory aimed at promoting the true image of Islamic tolerance.
In his opening remarks, Minister Al Ghanim emphasized the importance of the meeting as a continuation of the GCC's fraternal gatherings, aimed at reinforcing collective cooperation in religious affairs. He highlighted the meeting's role in showcasing the authentic contributions of the Ministries of Islamic and Religious Affairs while addressing contemporary challenges.
The Minister further stressed that the meeting seeks to combat campaigns of hatred and fanaticism, proving the GCC's commitment to engage positively with local and global developments, and to modernize the operational frameworks of their institutions.
