On Saturday, militants attacked a paramilitary checkpoint in the southwestern region of Balochistan, Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of seven soldiers.
The attack, which unfolded in the mountainous Kalat district, approximately 150 kilometres south of Quetta, marks a troubling escalation in violence perpetrated by separatist insurgents in the area, according to police reports.
Police officer Habib-ur-Rehman confirmed that the confrontation lasted for several hours, leaving 18 additional paramilitary soldiers wounded, with some in critical condition. The injured were quickly transported to local hospitals for urgent medical care.
