Doha, Qatar: Lulu Hypermarket Qatar has officially launched the fourth edition of the 'Let’s Italian Festival' in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA). The festival, which will run across all Lulu outlets until September 21, 2024, aims to showcase the finest authentic Italian products, providing Qatari consumers with a unique opportunity to explore Italy’s rich culinary heritage.

The inaugural event took place at Lulu Hypermarket’s Pearl Qatar branch, featuring distinguished guests including H.E. Paolo Toschi, the Ambassador of Italy to Qatar, Dr. Mohamed Althaf, Director of Lulu Group International-Global Operations, and Ms. Paola Lisi, Italian Trade Commissioner. The festival is set to elevate the visibility of Italian suppliers within Lulu Hypermarkets, enriching the shopping experience for customers with high-quality food products from Italy.

Ambassador Toschi expressed his excitement regarding the increasing demand for Italian products in Qatar, stating, “The Qatari market is expanding for Italian products, particularly foods and beverages. People here are well aware of the premium quality of Italian goods, which adhere to the highest health and safety standards. Lulu Hypermarket has been an exceptional partner, sourcing products directly from Italian producers. We are keen to see this partnership continue to flourish.”

Mohamed Althaf emphasized the festival's significance in strengthening trade relations between Qatar and Italy. “This Italian food festival, organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, aims to introduce a variety of new Italian products to the Qatari market. Our goal is to increase Italian food exports to Qatar by 40%. Italy produces some of the highest-quality foods at reasonable prices, and it leads the way in food safety standards,” he said.

The festival showcases an extensive range of Italian products, including dry groceries, canned goods, fresh produce, cheeses, and traditional ingredients. Ambassador Toschi provided insights into the rich variety and quality of products available, from premium cheeses to artisanal pasta, enhancing consumer understanding of what is on offer in Qatar.

Lulu Group’s commitment to promoting Italian products is evidenced by its sourcing, processing, and export hub located in Milan, which has significantly boosted the export of Italian goods to Qatar. This strategic investment highlights Lulu’s dedication to fostering strong trade relations with Italy and ensuring a steady supply of high-quality Italian products for the Qatari market.

The 'Let’s Eatalian Festival' is not only a platform for promoting Italian exports but also a means of strengthening cultural and economic ties between the two nations. By introducing authentic Italian flavors to Qatari consumers, Lulu Hypermarket is responding to the growing interest in international cuisine while promoting cross-cultural appreciation.

The festival also provides Italian suppliers with opportunities to expand their presence in Qatar, benefitting both economies. Furthermore, it plays a crucial role in cultural exchange, offering Qatari consumers insights into the history and traditions of Italian cuisine, thereby deepening their appreciation for Italian culture.

The opening ceremony was enhanced by live musical performances from students of King’s College Doha, led by Italian professor Ms. Corinna Mologni. The ensemble captivated attendees with classical pieces including "Bourrée" by Handel and "O mio Babbino caro" from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, followed by renditions of the Qatar National Anthem and the Crescendo Opera Ensemble’s performances of the Italian National Anthem and "Saria Possibile?" from Donizetti’s Elisir d'amore.

Lulu Hypermarket and the Italian Trade Agency invite everyone to immerse themselves in the richness and authenticity of Italian cuisine at the fourth edition of the 'Let’s Eatalian Festival,' continuing across all Lulu Hypermarket outlets in Qatar until September 21, 2024.
