16th Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival kicks off today at Sealine

Qatar: The highly anticipated 16th edition of the Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2025) officially begins today, running until February 1, 2025. Under the esteemed patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani and supported by the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), this festival celebrates the rich legacy of falconry, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Organized by the Qatari Society of Algannas, Marmi 2025 promises to be one of the most significant festivals in the region, focusing on the art and tradition of falconry. The opening event, the Haddad Al Tahaddi contest, is designed specifically for young falcons and features a thrilling competition where a racing pigeon is released for the hunting falcons to pursue or trap.

The stakes are high, with a grand prize of QR100,000 for the winner, along with the chance to compete in the final round for a luxurious Lexus car.
