Doha, Qatar: To bolster ethical organ donation and transplantation practices globally, the Doha International Center for Strategy and Leadership in Transplantation was officially launched on Monday. This initiative underscores Qatar's commitment to addressing global challenges in the field of organ donation.
The center is a collaborative venture involving the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), and prominent international organizations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO). The announcement coincided with an event dedicated to honoring 139 organ donors and recipients, along with paying tribute to 18 deceased donors.
Dr. Abdulla Al Ansari, Chief Medical Officer at HMC, emphasized the impact of Qatar's organ donation and transplantation programs, stating, "Qatar’s organ donation and transplantation programmes have changed the lives of thousands since they were established. We are proud that our programmes are considered models to be emulated. Today we are adding another milestone to our programmes and we are establishing the Doha International Center for Strategy and Leadership in Transplantation. Through this body, we will be supporting the development of transplant programmes globally—sharing our knowledge and our experience in Qatar with other countries.”
The newly formed center aims to share Qatar's expertise and experience in organ transplantation, supporting the development of transplant programs globally and fostering collaboration among nations to improve patient outcomes.
