Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a landmark visit to Kuwait, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years, attending the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup's opening ceremony as the chief guest. Held at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, the event showcased a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, with the opening match featuring Kuwait and Oman.
PM Modi met Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during the ceremony, expressing optimism about the bilateral relationship between the two nations. Sharing a moment from their meeting on X, Modi remarked, "Glad to have met His Highness the Amir of Kuwait."
Addressing a large gathering of the Indian diaspora at the 'Hala Modi' event held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex, PM Modi lauded their contributions to Kuwait’s growth and cultural fabric. He referred to Kuwait as a "mini-Hindustan," highlighting the deep integration of Indian talent, tradition, and technology into Kuwaiti society. Modi emphasized India's potential to become the "skill capital of the world," attributing this aspiration to the millions of Indians working across the globe, including the vibrant community in Kuwait.
The Prime Minister's visit underlined the strong and enduring bond between India and Kuwait, fostered by trade, cultural exchanges, and the contributions of the Indian diaspora. On Sunday, PM Modi is set to meet with top Kuwaiti leaders, including the Emir, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister, to discuss avenues for enhanced cooperation in trade, technology, and education. This historic visit symbolizes India's commitment to strengthening ties with Kuwait and the broader Gulf region.
