North Korea announced on Thursday that it has successfully tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), as reported by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The test, which was conducted under the direct orders of leader Kim Jong Un, took place at a designated launch site where he was present to oversee the operation.

KCNA highlighted that the missile's flight records surpassed all previous ICBM launches by the nation, indicating significant advancements in North Korea's missile technology. Kim Jong Un referred to the launch as a “very crucial” test aimed at bolstering the country's nuclear deterrent.

During the event, Kim stated, “The test-fire is an appropriate military action that fully meets the purpose of informing our rivals... of our determination to respond.” He emphasized that the launch serves as a demonstration of North Korea's resolve to counter perceived threats from its adversaries, which he claimed have endangered the nation's security.
