Israel announced early Saturday that it conducted airstrikes on military sites in Iran, a response to recent attacks from Tehran on Israeli targets.
The strikes, which began shortly after 2 a.m. local time, were reported to have caused multiple explosions throughout the Iranian capital and at military bases in the surrounding areas.
According to Israel's public broadcaster, the operation consisted of three waves of strikes, which were declared complete before dawn.
In reaction, Iranian media reported that the country's air defence systems successfully intercepted Israeli attacks, claiming that there was only "limited damage" to military facilities in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam.
This latest round of violence underscores the deepening conflict between the two heavily armed nations, raising concerns over the potential for further military confrontations in the region.
