Doha, Qatar: The Indian Sports Centre proudly concluded the highly anticipated India Cup Open Badminton Tournament, Season 2, with an exhilarating finals and closing ceremony held on Saturday at Beta Cambridge School, Al Meshaf.
The event attracted significant participation from the Indian community, featuring over 500 competitors across 33 categories, showcasing intense competition and thrilling performances for fans.
Badminton legend Padma Shri Prakash Padukone graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, inspiring both participants and spectators alike. The Chief Guest, His Excellency Mr. Vipul, the Indian Ambassador to Qatar, expressed pride in the growing enthusiasm for sports among the Indian community. ISC President Mr. EP Abdul Rahiman also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of such events.
Mr. Padukone praised the dedication and talent of the players, especially commending the promising skills displayed by younger athletes.
The tournament was marked by impressive performances from children, whose potential illuminated the court. Notable victories included Arjun Shinde winning the Men's Singles title by defeating Emmanuel Emmy Joseph, while Akshay and Shijas triumphed in the Men's Doubles against Endy Rojak and Jacob Thomas. In the Girls U17 category, Anusree Shine emerged victorious over Adlyn Mary Sojan, and Pridhav Shyam Gopan claimed the Boys U17 title by overcoming Abhinav Nair. Adam Noujas captured the Juniors U9 championship by defeating Nivedya Aji.
The tournament successfully brought together a diverse array of players from Qatar and beyond, embodying a true celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit.
