Doha, Qatar: Hamad International Airport (DOH) has announced a significant milestone in its operations, serving 13.7 million passengers in the third quarter of 2024. This marks a robust 7.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year, underscoring the airport's growing prominence as a global aviation hub.
Driving this growth was a surge in point-to-point traffic, which rose by 11.7 percent. July stood out as the airport's busiest month on record, with an impressive 4,742,068 passengers. August followed closely with 4,717,885 passengers, while September saw a total of 4,246,742 travellers.
In addition to passenger numbers, aircraft movements also saw a notable increase, reaching 71,425 during Q3 2024, a 6.2 percent rise from the previous year. This included 24,179 take-offs and landings in July, 24,329 in August, and 22,917 in September.
The airport also reported a strong performance in cargo operations, handling 670,643 tonnes of cargo in Q3 2024, reflecting a 13.5 percent increase compared to Q3 2023. Cargo volumes remained consistent throughout the quarter, with 221,398 tonnes in July, 219,525 tonnes in August, and 229,719 tonnes in September.
