Explosion at steel plant in Mexico: 12 dead, one injured

A fire inciedent at a steel plant in central Mexico has resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals and left one person injured, according to local authorities. 


The incident occurred in Xaloztoc, about 87 miles (140 kilometers) east of Mexico City, shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday.




The Tlaxcala state Civil Protection agency reported that the fire erupted following an explosion, triggered when molten steel came into contact with water. While the fire has been brought under control, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently underway.


Tlaxcala Governor Lorena Cuellar expressed her heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and announced plans to visit the site of the tragedy. The condition of the injured individual remains unknown.
