Israeli airstrike early on Sunday on a home sheltering displaced individuals in northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 17 people, according to Dr. Fadel Naim, director of the Al-Ahly Hospital in Gaza City, which received the bodies.
The deceased include nine women, and Dr. Naim warned that the death toll is likely to rise as rescue efforts continue.
The assault targeted a home in the Jabaliya urban camp, where Israeli forces have been conducting an offensive for over a month. As of now, there has been no immediate response from the Israeli military regarding the attack.
For the past month, Israeli forces have encircled and largely isolated Jabaliya, along with the nearby towns of Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun, allowing only limited humanitarian aid to enter the region. This has forced tens of thousands of people to flee to Gaza City in search of safety.
